Directed by Guillermo del Toro and predictably similar to his other movie Pan's Labyrinth (in it's general character) has a charm which captivated me for the 2 hours of it's duration.
Even if it's plagiarism because of the other movie, surprisingly similar, the Splash, I consider The Shape of Water worth watching and having a moment of reflection.
In the movie we can see a woman with her unique character, her daily routine, her perfection in everything she does. But she doesn't speak. All of her thought are kept on her inside, shared with the world only by gestures.
One day she meets a creature who everyone sees as dangerous, ugly, disgusting. This strange beast is comparable with Elisa (the woman mentioned before) in the question of muteness.
They understand each other better than anybody else. They need each other, because one makes the other one happy, the presence is enough. This is a story of simple but difficult and strong feeling between two creatures showed in their fairy world.
