The "tip-of-the-tongue" state.

Hey!

This time I will be talking a bit about the memory. How does it work that sometimes we remember the proper names which the others don't, and other times we forget what the others remember? We see many places in this world, we meet a huge amount of people, what makes it complicated to remember every name and word. There are some studies about this state of forgetting words in a certain moment, called tip-of-the-tounge state. One example of the scientists who study this subject is Lise Abrams, a psychologist from the University of Florida. The researchers found out also sign language users suffer from this state, in their case called "tip-of-the-finger state".

The words we use less frequently are the ones we draw blanks on. One of the ways you can handle this struggle is to say the word you forget out loud as many times as you can, in different contexts. The best way would be reviewing the information which we use to forget. At first review it many times, then every time do it less, it will make your memory stronger. Just before you go to sleep, you should review the information you wish to remember.
Everyone feels frustrated when it comes to forgetting what we want to express. One good method of finding the missed information in our brain is to look for the context to the memory (for example the time of the day, the people present, the weather, and so on).

Do you have any alternative ideas of practising your memory?
